Supposedly why the Bush Administration Kept Quite about Saddam having 550 tons of enriched uranium

The Bush administration apparently would rather have people call them liars than say something that could endanger security. Townhall has the information here:

It appears that American troops found the 550 metric tons of uranium in 2003 after invading Iraq. They had to sit on this information and the uranium itself, for fear of terrorists attempting to steal it. It was guarded and kept safe by our military in a 23,000-acre site with large sand beams surrounding the site. . . .

John, I may be missing something but wasn't all of that that material already declared to the UN? From the AP story:

"Later, UN inspectors documented and safeguarded the yellowcake, which had been stored in aging drums and containers since before the 1991 Gulf War. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said."

While I support the decision to invade Iraq, I do not think this story qualifies as vindication.

Anon,

This absolutely is important. The point is that the MSM just quietly tip-toes through these cold hard facts and remains in their "Bush Lied" mode.

Frankly, conservatives have developed thick skin by now. We're used to their drivel, we've heard the 9/11 truthers, we've heard Code Pink, Cindy Sheehan, etc. Everytime a liberal whines about foreign policy, it's like I am numb to it, really.

The same people will continue to support the war and do the right thing. To date - thankfully - all of the important people have remained dedicated and the others will continue to cry about it.

Keeping facts like this discovery in your bag of truth can prove to be quite entertaining when you bring them up to liberals - and then watch their heads explode.

Sort of like reminding them how this President has prevented another attack - which is why it is our duty to be the ones to do the reminding - since the MSM is not.

This is a great blog, btw!

Also according to the AP story the Iraqi uranium wasn't enriched and it couldn't even be used to make a dirty bomb.

Here's a link to the AP story:
