This is one of the very many reasons that Mitt Romney can't be the Republican presidential nominee

Romney has just had too many huge switches on policy. No matter whether you agree with his current position, you have no reason to believe that he will keep that position.

Every candidate has their weaknesses. He's always been 'personally' pro-life, but I'm convinced he won't ever change on this issue again. There's nothing wrong with someone seeing the light and joining our side.

I think his health care plan in Massachusetts gives more cause for concern than stating he won't change the laws concerning abortion that are already in place in the state.

I know it's still premature, but he's better than the alternatives. I love Sarah Palin, but I fear her nomination isn't realistic - the media tarnished her in many people's eyes - but not in mine. Don't get me started on Huckabee... I loved Fred, but doesn't seem like that'll happen again. Perhaps a small-government young gun will surface...

But until then, in my eyes, Romney is the best practical alternative.

If it was even two or three big changes, one might understand, but he has had a lot of changes on so many issues one can't keep track. From guns to the boy scouts to campaign finance regulation to other social issues to other positions, he has made huge 180 degree changes in his positions. Can you give me one example of a social issue that he hasn't had a change on? It is also how strongly he claimed the positions were. On abortion, guns, and campaign finance, it is hard to see how he could have been more adamant than he was about sticking with his original position. All these changes also occurred within a two-and-a-half year period of time. How does someone get to his age and then all of a sudden have these revelations in so many different areas?

Finally, it is not just health care. He is a strong advocate of cap and trade for global warming.
